Cycle Similarities
Transitions
The two Cycles of the handling others (X-axis) and handling inner mental states (Y-Axis).
drawn on the TET diagram reveal two sets of all possible transitions in regard toThese are shown on the diagram below.
The arrows of transition can be described as "drives", but they are not necessarily activated. Once you actively seek to strengthen your
, the necessary energy emerges as appropriate to the Stage transition.Explanation
The two transitions from a limited form of seem to move back along the X-axis and ignore the handling of others. At this point, personal change is given priority over consideration for others.
In
, emotional interactions with others are too volatile, and relations tend to become symbiotic or too dependent. At a certain point, anything may become better than the status quo. Young people often leave home as emotional roles become claustrophobic and stormy. The kick-off to
occurs when comfort-zone living feels too static and restrictive. If a sense of adventure and a wish to actualize new potentials emerges, then once again a person is driven to expose themselves in order to access new possibilities. In these two transitions going upwards on the Y-axis, the strengthening of the self becomes most evident because it is an inner state. There is no change in the focus on others, while intensifying concerns to handle mental states provides the self with more certain protection. The pressure for this naturally flows from exposures in the previous Mode.
In
, the inner security comes from creating a self-concept that endures and is owned and protected within a private sphere of living. This can provide allow a person to tolerate being ignored or rejected, which is all too common in group life.In
, additional inner protection is required when greater challenges are addressed because these involve complex choices, suffering and set-backs. The most effective solution for a person is humane consideration of others with attention to authenticity and development of serenity. In these two transitions going to the right on the X-axis, we see the reverse of the Red transition. There is a greater concern for handling others because it is from them that a is desired.
In
, you face a degree of isolation that comes with a private self-concept. No-one else properly appreciates this self, but it requires external inputs to maintain a good mood and self-esteem.In
, you face the impersonality of the universe and possibly the diffusion of self into it. To counter the meaningless of human existence, meaningful relationships with appropriate intimacy lead you to be regarded and handled as a special person in a genuine way. These two transitions require movement down the Y-axis to re-enter the . This is easy and spontaneous because it requires no change in handling others, and no greater focus on mental states. The result is a feeling of comfort with the self.
In
, you have created your comfort zones. You are sufficiently sensitive; you are socially established; you know who you are; and you enjoy good times with good company on a regular basis. The result is and a self that is stable. In
, you have pursued self-actualization and created an additional sphere of personal achievement, humane living, and a few meaningful friendships. The emotional result is a consistent with an ability to withstand life's vicissitudes.-
